A Day in The Life of an Interior Designer

No two clients the same. No two projects the same. No two days alike.

And honestly? We wouldn’t want it any other way.

3:42AM

Wake, suddenly, with the perfect solution to add a door to a Client’s Mahjong Room, that won’t impede upon the layout of the space. Make a note. Check it off! Now to get back to sleep…

6:30AM

Out of bed, ready to take on the day.

7:00AM

Get in a quick workout. A sound body ensures a sound mind (most of the time).

7:30AM

Time to get freshened up and find the perfect outfit to complement today’s line up. Breakfast and out the door.

8:30AM

Morning Chit Chat with the Team while enjoying a Sweater Weather tea from Shaw’s Coffee (our favorite neighborhood coffee shop). There’s plenty to debrief this morning, like our thoughts and feelings on this week’s elimination from Dancing with the Stars.

9:00AM

Back at the computer, after responding to emails, finish putting  touches on a client presentation for later this week. Getting excited to showcase what we’ve developed for their Great Room. Comfortable, inviting, made for living in, not just for looking at.

10:15AM

Digging through our extensive material library, in search of the perfect window treatments for a client’s Dining Room. They have to pack a punch, but can’t upstage the real star of the room: a Mahogany masterpiece with gold fluted aprons from Century.

11:30AM

Jump in the car to run by a New Build we’re working on to see & photograph progress. After capturing the newly poured foundation, it’s off to an appointment at The Stone Reserve to gather ideas for countertops planned for another client’s Kitchen, Butler’s Pantry & Master Bath. Mother Nature sure knows what she’s doing. The natural stone on display never ceases to amaze.

12:45PM

Lunch (Protein Bar) on the go. Always have a few in the bag for busy days.

1:30PM

Sit down to call a potential new Client. Eager to hear about their plans to renovate and add on to a home on The Hill. We love an opportunity to work with neighbors!

2:45PM

Work through the Design of every single Bathroom in a Client’s New Build. So much tile, so little time.

4:00PM

Sneak out a little early to get home to finish packing for a quick (albeit needed) weekend away. Chi-Town, we’ll see you soon!

5:30PM – 8:30PM

Phone down. Laptop closed. Family Time.

8:30PM

Open laptop at the kitchen island to review a Client’s Schematic Design presentation for tomorrow morning.

9:30PM

Time for some mint tea and a day recap with my person.  Maybe watch one of shows or listen to an album while we relax

10:30PM

Calling it for the day. Time for bed. No doubt there will be dreams of beautiful textiles, inspired spaces and tomorrow’s To-Do List.
